1. Prophylactic Therapy for Patients in a Stable Condition

This programme aims to prevent the recurrence of depression or other symptoms following manic episodes. Through regular sessions and personalised management strategies, we help patients maintain mood stability, reducing the risk of relapse. Early intervention and continuous monitoring are central to the programme, providing support when and where it's needed.

2. Treatment for Post-Manic Depressive Episodes

Post-manic depression is a common challenge for patients with bipolar disorder after intense periods of hypomania or mania. This programme includes intensive therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), specialised medication, and social interventions tailored to this phase of post-manic depression. Our goal is to help patients regain functionality and reduce depressive symptoms, with a focus on restoring mental and physical balance. Proper recovery from this type of depression has shown to bring balance and prevent future bipolar relapses. If recovery is not achieved correctly, bipolar relapses are likely to continue.

3. Relapse Prevention for Substance Use

Substance use can exacerbate bipolar disorder and lead to dangerous relapses. During mood episodes, it's very likely that there will be relapses in substance use or, conversely, substance use relapse may lead to mood episodes. In this program, we offer a comprehensive support plan that includes treatments focused on detoxification within the context of bipolar disorder. At the same time, we educate patients on relapse prevention techniques and strengthen their resilience through psychoeducation and ongoing support.

4. Addressing Traumatic Experiences from Crises and Hospitalizations

Crises and hospitalisations can leave deeply traumatic experiences that are rarely acknowledged in patients facing such difficult situations. This program focuses on processing these traumas through specialized therapeutic methods, such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (Trauma-Focused CBT) and other forms of trauma therapy. Our goal is to help patients redefine their traumatic experiences and empower themselves, ensuring that trauma does not interfere with their treatment journey.

5. Detox from Psychiatric Polypharmacy

BipolarLab's clinical team supports treatments based on an integrative treatment approach (combining psychosocial interventions and medication) and avoids the use of polypharmacy regimens, which can negatively impact the overall health of patients and lead to problems with treatment adherence and relapses. This programme aims to gradually reduce and detoxify excessive use of psychiatric medications, with the continuous support and guidance of our specialised psychiatrists and psychologists. Our goal is to improve the quality of life of our patients by balancing medication with other therapeutic approaches.

6. Integration of Cutting-Edge Technology in Therapy (VR + AI)

At BipolarLab, we continually evolve our therapeutic approaches by incorporating the latest technological innovations. Using tools such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), we aim to improve the therapeutic experience and outcomes for our patients. VR offers virtual environments that can be tailored to specific therapeutic needs, providing unique opportunities for exposure therapy, relaxation training, and more. Meanwhile, AI helps us personalise and optimise treatment plans by analysing patient data and providing real-time valuable insights. These innovations make therapy more engaging and empower our patients to take an active role in their journey toward mental health. Flippy is HERE for all our patients. Each patient can now have their own Flippy! (Request to have your personal Bipolar AI assistant created - My Flippy)

7. Addressing Family and Marital Issues - Bipolar Family Therapy

Bipolar disorder can significantly strain family and marital relationships. Our Family & Marital Therapy programme offers support to both patients and their relatives through family therapy and couples counseling. We work with you to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships, creating a supportive and stable environment for everyone.

8. Improving Physical Health - Metabolic Health Programme

Metabolic health is fundamental to overall well-being, especially for individuals with bipolar disorder. This program provides personalised nutritional interventions, combining mental and physical health. Through regular assessments and guidance appointments, we help patients improve their physical fitness, reduce the risk of metabolic disorders, and enhance their mental stability.

9. Continued Emphasis on Proper Psychoeducation (currently in Greek only, soon in English)

Psychoeducation is a crucial pillar in the successful management of bipolar disorder. Through our specialized courses, you can gain the necessary knowledge and tools to better understand your condition and enhance your treatment. Don't miss our psychoeducational newsletter (members only) "The Secrets of Bipolar Disorder" by Dr. Malliaris, where he shares articles with valuable therapeutic insights for the treatment of bipolar disorder.

10. Daily Home Therapy - Concierge Care (Dimiourgia.org)

Finally, after the cessation of COVID, our most unique home therapy programme, Dimiourgia.org Concierge Care, has resumed its operation. The programme is aimed at patients with increased daily therapeutic needs. Thanks to our significant training programme and the further expansion of our clinical team, we can provide even more personalised daily care.

These programmes, based on the extensive experience and expertise of BipolarLab, are designed to meet the needs of our patients in the most effective way possible. Our goal is to provide you with the best possible support for the successful recovery from any bipolar disorder.

As always, we take on a limited number of patients each year following careful screening in order to ensure the best service for all our patients. We can assess your suitability during our First Appointment.

The first recruitment period for new patients begins from September to November 2024.

Sincerely,

The Clinical Team at BipolarLab
